Project understanding

Operating spa

The spa will remain open during construction. All work is performed overnight between 8:00 PM and 9:00 AM, with the work area cleaned and reset every morning.

Project understanding

Built for water

Every shower receives a three-layer waterproofing system — membrane, backer board and waterproof coating — and is flood-tested before any tile is installed.

Project understanding

Sequenced for service

Showers are built one at a time in a planned sequence so the spa is never without an operational hallway shower.

02Scope of Work

Every task,
visible.

The scope is broken into three work packages — one per shower — so every inclusion is documented. Anything not listed here is not included unless added through a written change order.

01

Private Room Shower Renovation (1 Unit)

  • Demolish the existing shower and dispose of all construction debris.
  • Supply and install a custom frameless glass shower enclosure.
  • Supply and install 24" × 48" porcelain tiles for the shower walls and shower base only.
  • Install the shower fixture supplied by the client.
  • Complete three-layer waterproofing: membrane, cement backer board and waterproof coating.
02

Hallway Shower #1 Renovation

  • Demolish the existing shower and dispose of all construction debris.
  • Enlarge the shower area by approximately 10 inches for proper door clearance and accessibility.
  • Supply and install a custom frameless glass shower enclosure.
  • Supply and install 24" × 48" porcelain tiles — full-height walls and floor tiles extending to the shower entrance.
  • Install the shower fixture supplied by the client.
  • Complete three-layer waterproofing: membrane, cement backer board and waterproof coating.
03

Hallway Shower #2 Renovation

  • Demolish the existing shower and dispose of all construction debris.
  • Enlarge the shower area by approximately 10 inches for proper door clearance and accessibility.
  • Supply and install a custom frameless glass shower enclosure.
  • Supply and install 24" × 48" porcelain tiles — full-height walls and floor tiles extending to the shower entrance.
  • Install the shower fixture supplied by the client.
  • Complete three-layer waterproofing: membrane, cement backer board and waterproof coating.
Construction sequence

To minimize disruption to spa operations, the three showers will be completed in the following order. Working hours are approximately 8:00 PM to 9:00 AM, subject to site conditions.

Phase 1
Hallway Shower #1

Built first so spa staff and clients regain hallway shower access quickly.

Phase 2
Private Room Shower

Completed while one hallway shower is already back in service.

Phase 3
Hallway Shower #2

Built last so the spa always has at least one operational hallway shower.

04Construction Process

How each shower will be built.

Every shower we build follows the same sequenced process — so the substrate is properly waterproofed, the tile is set straight, and the glass is templated to a finished space.

  1. 01

    Site Protection & Setup

Protect spa floors, walkways and adjacent treatment rooms. Set up dust barriers and isolate the work area before each overnight shift.

  2. 02

    Demolition

Carefully remove existing shower enclosures, tiles and substrates. Bag and remove all debris before the spa reopens in the morning.

  3. 03

    Layout Adjustment

Reframe and enlarge the hallway shower openings by ~10" to provide proper swing clearance for the new glass doors.

  4. 04

    Three-Layer Waterproofing

Install waterproof membrane, cement backer board and apply waterproof coating to walls and shower base.

  5. 05

    Waterproofing Test

Flood-test the waterproofed shower pan and walls. Confirm no leaks before any tile work begins.

  6. 06

    Tile Installation

Install 24" × 48" porcelain tiles to walls and floor with precise alignment, even grout joints and clean transitions.

  7. 07

    Glass Templating & Install

Template the custom frameless glass once tile is cured. Fabricate and install the enclosure with premium hardware.

  8. 08

    Final Clean & Handover

Detail-clean each completed shower, walk through with the client and confirm sign-off before moving to the next unit.
